We have recieved invites to take the unraced Hepworth GB 1 Can am car alongside the BRM P154 that was last raced in 1971 by the legendry Pedro Rodriguez.
The P154 was BRM's first attempt at the then lucrative Can am series in the United States and Canada, designed by Tony Southgate the car features an aluminium monocoque, with a BRM tuned Chevrolet aluminium V8 producing in the region of 800 bhp. This particular car chassis number 2 took part in a part season alongside the sister car that was driven by George Eaton.
The Hepworth GB1 is based on the last ever BRM Formula 1 car ever made by the Bourne based marque, unfortunatly the car never got passed the testing stage before the doors closed, the project was then sold on to David Hepworth who commisioned the conversion of the car to the single seater Can am regulations that were in place in the early 1980's. Again the chassis never got passed the testing stage, after a number of tests in the UK driven by future Indy 500 winner Danny Sulivan the car was shipped to the states, for further testing in which it suffered a serious accident severly damaging the chassis and suspension.
