This is the last Can am car built by BRM and was actualy completed by David Hepworth for 1973. The car has languished dismantled in storage for the past 4 decades prior to undergoing a full restoration in our workshop was recognised as many peoples favorite at the Goodwood festival of speed.
Hepworth International have gone to great efforts to ensure the originality and having the original drawings any components that were deemed unsuitable on safety or reliabiliity grounds could be reproduced with fine accuracy.
The 8.1 litre Chevrolet engine fitted in the chassis is the original engine fitted in period, although it has undergone a full rebuild in our engine shop the only components requiring replacement were the gaskets and valve springs as well as weld repairs to some small cracks in the engine block otherwise it is as it left BRM's own engine house.
The Hewland LG500 4 speed gearbox was dismantled and was also in suprisingly good condition although our welding shop did have to complete some repairs to the magnesuim castings where greases used in the 1970's had caused some corrosion damage and some bearings required replacement the rest of the components were inspected and measured prior to reassembl
